House Panel OKs Homeland Security Discretionary Budget

Posted on:

Protecting the homeland is my priority, and this bill provides our frontline personnel the tools they need to do just that. This bill secures our border, funds detention operations, and provides critical funding to protect our cyber networks. It also includes steps to block President Obama’s attempts at rewriting our laws through executive order, and instructs our agencies to uphold the law of the land.

House Defense Spending Bill A Step In The Right Direction

Posted on:

As an ardent supporter of our military, I supported this bill and encourage the Senate GOP and President Obama to support the work of the House Republicans on this very important legislation.

May Recap

Posted on:

I’m proud to continue fighting for more Texas in DC and less Washington in Texas! The month of May created numerous opportunities for me to continue fighting for what matters to Central Texans:

  • Supported H.R. 4909, the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which includes language based on my READI Act that prohibits housing illegal immigrant minors on military installations
  • Also included in the NDAA is my amendment to broaden the scope of research on anti-malarial drugs that have shown signs of a potential misdiagnosis of PTSD and Traumatic Brain Injury, and produces numerous permanent symptoms
  • Voted for the VA funding bill (H.R. 4974) which provides $81.6 billion to house, train, and equip our military personnel
  • Supported H.R. 3989, the Support our Military Caregivers Act, which helps better support family members caring for seriously wounded veterans
  • Supported legislation that provides for 25 additional immigration judge teams to process immigration reviews more quickly and reduce the backlog of pending cases
  • Cosponsored H.R. 5275 which blocks the Obama Administration’s transgender directive in schools and protects the authority of local governments to enforce policies regarding the use of sex-segregated bathrooms
  • Hosted “Congressman in the Classroom” with East View High School in Georgetown, TX which allowed students to ask me questions about public service
  • Co-sponsored H.R. 5034 which stops the ongoing requirement placed upon Southwest border states to report the legal sale of multiple rifles to the federal government

It is an honor to vote for you in the House of Representatives.

Happy 241st Birthday, U.S. Army!

White House confirms ‘criminal’ probe over Clinton emails

Posted on:

Republicans must work together to ensure defeat of the Democrats in November. Electing someone that will continue the failed policies of President Obama, while at the same time trying to avoid federal indictment, would be the absolute wrong direction to take our country!

April Recap

Posted on:

Dear Neighbors,

I’m proud to continue fighting for more Texas in Washington and less Washington in Texas! Recently in April, there were numerous opportunities for me to continue to fight for our Texas values. Here are some examples of what I’ve been working on:

  • Held the IRS accountable by supporting bills (H.R. 1206 and H.R. 4890) ensuring IRS employees, the very people responsible for collecting taxes from every American, pay their own taxes as well as banning IRS employee bonuses until they can demonstrate improved customer service.
  • Supported our troops by including language (identical to my standalone bill, the READI Act) to prohibit illegal aliens from being housed on military installations in the FY2017 National Defense Authorization Act (H.R.4909).
  • Showcased the enormous value of Fort Hood to our national security during a Williamson County VIP Day.  In DC, I hosted a classified briefing with General Milley (Chief of Staff, US Army) highlighting the risk our forces face from a steep decline in defense spending.
  • Stood by our veterans by voting for legislation (H.R.4676) to penalize scam artists that blatantly engage in schemes to defraud a veteran of his or her benefits.  I also supported the VA funding bill (H.R. 4974) which provides $81.6 billion to house, train, and equip our military personnel.
  • Cosponsored legislation (H.R. 711) that ensures Social Security is fairly applied to hard-working Texas teachers, police officers, firefighters, and other public servants.

It is an honor to cast a vote for you in the House of Representatives each week.  I thank you for your continued support!
