President Biden has abandoned his responsibility to secure the southern border. This year, the House passed my bill, the Secure the Border Act, to finish building the wall, end human trafficking and increase law enforcement resources to gain control of America’s borders.
I’ve also authored legislation to prevent illegal immigrants from being housed on America’s military bases. President Biden’s failures shouldn’t become the burden of our service members.
I was the first member of Congress to secure funding for President Trump’s border wall in Congress. The wall serves as a way to slow down illegal activity so law enforcement officers can respond.
Washington has a waste problem. As a chairman on the House Appropriations Committee, I’m proud to be in a position to cut wasteful spending and be a responsible voice for Americans’ pocketbooks. As your voice in Congress, I stood up against the debt ceiling agreement negotiated by Speaker McCarthy and President Biden. America cannot maintain its current spending trajectory and be sound for decades to come. The biggest threat to important programs like veterans benefits and Social Security is out of control spending. For fiscal year 2024, I put forth legislation that returns spending to fiscal year 2022 levels.
I back the blue. Law enforcement officers have a tough job, and I consider it my duty to ensure they have the resources they need. Throughout my time in Congress, I have secured over $3.5 million for local law enforcement agencies in TX-31. I’ve also authored legislation to create a grant program so that law enforcement officers have access to active shooter training at the ALERRT center in San Marcos, TX. This training teaches officers to neutralize a threat and save lives. In addition, I authored legislation to help local police department recruit and retain officers.
As a gun owner and a Concealed Handgun License (CHL) holder, I understand the importance of responsible gun ownership.
The right to bear arms is guaranteed in our U.S. Constitution. The Second Amendment is an intrinsic part of our freedom, ensures our ability to protect that freedom, and means we have the ability to protect our families and our property. I recently voted against President Biden’s plan to outlaw stabilizing pistol braces. This legislation would’ve prohibited wounded warriors and retired police officers from the use of firearms. I will also support Americans’ right to keep and bear arms.
As an A rated member of the NRA, I’m proud to receive their endorsement.
The Declaration of Independence states that life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are inalienable rights. I believe that life should be protected. I have put forth and supported the Hyde Amendment, which prohibits taxpayer dollars from being used for abortions.
While the Supreme Court has given this issue to the states to address, I will always support pro-life federal policies.
Just as we have fought for freedom and justice throughout our nation’s history, we must fight for the lives of the hundreds of thousands of unborn children who are aborted in the U.S. every year.
I’m proud to be endorsed by National Right to Life, the nation’s largest pro-life organization.
I will fight to protect the precious lives of those who cannot protect themselves.
Education is one of the most important facets of our society. I am a strong advocate for career and technical education programs, so that young people can get well-paying jobs without a four year degree. I’m proud that Texas’ 31st Congressional District is a leader in CTE programs, and thousands of Central Texas student have benefited from the availability of these programs.
Obamacare continues to be a disaster for Texas families. It has raised premiums by 82% and left Texans with less options for health care. Texans deserve a system that puts them, not government bureaucrats, in charge of their health care decisions. I support repealing Obamacare and replacing it with a free-market health care system where competition drives down costs and increases options. I believe America’s health care system should protect preexisting conditions, and empower patients by giving them options in their care.
I also believe we should improve incentives for students and doctors to help address the shortages our country is facing in the medical field. These incentives will help create a more stable workforce and ensure the best care for patients.
Finally, we have to work towards improving Medicare so seniors are receiving the medical care they deserve.
