May Recap

I’m proud to continue fighting for more Texas in DC and less Washington in Texas! The month of May created numerous opportunities for me to continue fighting for what matters to Central Texans:

  • Supported H.R. 4909, the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which includes language based on my READI Act that prohibits housing illegal immigrant minors on military installations
  • Also included in the NDAA is my amendment to broaden the scope of research on anti-malarial drugs that have shown signs of a potential misdiagnosis of PTSD and Traumatic Brain Injury, and produces numerous permanent symptoms
  • Voted for the VA funding bill (H.R. 4974) which provides $81.6 billion to house, train, and equip our military personnel
  • Supported H.R. 3989, the Support our Military Caregivers Act, which helps better support family members caring for seriously wounded veterans
  • Supported legislation that provides for 25 additional immigration judge teams to process immigration reviews more quickly and reduce the backlog of pending cases
  • Cosponsored H.R. 5275 which blocks the Obama Administration’s transgender directive in schools and protects the authority of local governments to enforce policies regarding the use of sex-segregated bathrooms
  • Hosted “Congressman in the Classroom” with East View High School in Georgetown, TX which allowed students to ask me questions about public service
  • Co-sponsored H.R. 5034 which stops the ongoing requirement placed upon Southwest border states to report the legal sale of multiple rifles to the federal government

It is an honor to vote for you in the House of Representatives.
